Businesses nominated for NSW Business Chamber Awards

Eleven businesses have been chosen as finalists at the upcoming NSW Business Chamber Awards.

The finalists, all of whom operate in the City of Sydney, consist of seven companies, two local chambers, one training college and a museum.

“These finalists are drawn from a very talented pool of businesses operating in our area and the Business Awards help us promote their talents and capabilities on the state-wide stage,” said Clover Mayor, Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney.

The Sydney-city based businesses were chosen as finalists after being named winners in the South East Regional awards, which took place on Friday 25 July on board the MV Bella Vista, Sydney Harbour.

“Small and medium-sized businesses are thriving in the City of Sydney,” Ms Clover continued. “Over the past five years around 2,000 new businesses have opened and employment has grown by 13.6 per cent.”

The City of Sydney sponsored this year’s Excellence in Small Business category, paving the way for two businesses honored in multiple categories.

The Recruitment Alternative, a Redfern-based recruitment agency, was chosen as a finalist.

“I want to thank the City of Sydney for supporting small business and sponsoring this award,” said Michael Spiropoulos, head of The Recruitment Alternative.

“It’s hugely important that small businesses be recognised for the contribution they make to the economy and the community. I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to join my fellow nominees at the upcoming state finals.”

• The Recruitment Alternative, Redfern (joint winner with Gallop Solutions Leichhardt)
• The Australian Museum, CBD (Excellence in Sustainability)
• Vision Personal Training, Darlinghurst (Young Entrepreneur Dean Williams);
