Australian company MiMedia launches miRoamer Blackberry app

Australians can now download radio stations from across the globe, with MiMedia launching its streaming technology miRoamer this month.Blackberry Application

MiRoamer, developed by Melbourne-based media solutions company MiMedia Holdings, allows  users to stream tens of thousands of radio stations from all across the globe, channelling preferred music genres, sports and news options directly to their mobile phone.  It accesses the full digital spectrum, plus around 40,000 other internet radio stations.

MiRoamer technology takes advantage of the fact that there no longer exists a single device that can satisfy users of digital devices, according to founder and CEO of MiMedia Holdings George Parthimos.

“Melbourne-based MiMedia Holdings is a clear global leader in digital media technology development and we’re well positioned to take advantage of an escalating global market opportunity. There is no doubt that strongly positioned global applications will see significant return,” Mr Parthimos said.

Within five days of its launch earlier this month MiRoamer experienced 35,000 downloads and within a fortnight it was named in the Top 25 Blackberry Apps worldwide by Tech Radar UK (the only Australian contender to make the list) and was given a five-star rating by T3.

MiRoamer is currently only available on Australian and New Zealand Blackberries. The app will be available on all other smartphones, including  iPhone and Android, by the end of this year.
