Turning the home office into an efficient, workable space

As flexible working becomes less of a privilege and more of an expectation, it’s vital the home office space is set up to allow employees to work as efficiently and effectively as they would in the workplace. Pass these three simple solutions on to your teleworkers to help keep their productivity levels up when working from home.

The Australian Financial Review reports that more than 767,700 of Aussie employees, that’s one in 13, are now working increasingly from home. With the explosion of mobile technology, and increasing workloads, it is no wonder that employees are happy to work anywhere, anytime, even if it cuts into personal hours.

If you are one of the 13 Australians that spend a couple of days per week working from the comfort of your home, you must ensure your home office is just as savvy and technologically capable as your workplace. These tips and tricks will help you turn your home office into a fast, efficient and workable space – so much so, you just may never want to leave.

1. Install Network Storage: If you’ve had a hard drive crash, you know how devastating it is to lose your personal files and professional data. Use Network Storage to automatically backup your files and host multimedia content for everyone on the network to store and share. Simply add one or more hard drives of any size and never worry about your digital files again.

2. Implement Parental Controls: Yes, your home office may be solely for professional purposes, but don’t forget it is still within the confinements of your home. Is your family protected from all Internet threats? Parental Controls provide protection for your family as threats are detected and blocked from the Internet before they can reach your PCs. Parents can also define Internet usage and monitor activity for all PCs.

3. Monitor your valuables: While you’re locked away in your home office, what’s happening outside? Have you checked on your pets? Small and unobtrusive, Network Cameras connected to your home network let you monitor your valuables anywhere you can access the internet. Captured video can be stored to a hard drive and multiple cameras can be viewed on a single screen. This way, you can monitor what’s happening in the kitchen, in your child’s bedroom and in the garden, all within the comfort of your office.

If you can implement these simple steps, you can ensure that your office space will be efficient, protected and fast– exactly what you need for a perfect (and homely) office!
