Entries open for Smart50 awards

Australia’s Smart50 Awards program, which honors growth, innovation, and resilience among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), is making a return.

Entries are now open to Australian businesses with a minimum annual revenue of $500,000 that have operated for at least three years.

As the Smart50 Awards mark their 15th year, the focus in 2023 remains on recognising businesses that have played a pivotal role in shaping the Australian business landscape. SmartCompany has unveiled that the previous year’s Smart50 winners collectively generated $690,552,293 in revenue, employed 2,430 Australians, and remarkably created 1,000 new jobs during the fiscal year 2021/22.

To further celebrate Australia’s business champions, a new accolade, the ‘Smart and Lasting’ award, will be presented to a Smart50 finalist who has consistently secured a spot on the list in recent years, embodying qualities of resilience, community, and innovation.

Past Smart50 winners have attested to the substantial impact of these awards on their growth. Athan Didaskalou, co-founder of July and a winner at The Smart50 Awards 2022, emphasized how the recognition generated positive press and enduring connections.

SmartCompany’s special features editor, Ben Ice, highlighted the awards’ legacy, spanning 15 years, in uncovering Australia’s most resilient and innovative business talents. He remarked that the Smart50 alumni list reads like a who’s who of iconic Australian brands and groundbreaking disruptors.

Businesses keen to participate in the Smart50 can take advantage of a discounted early-bird entry fee of $150 AUD + GST, available until September 1, 2023. Afterward, the full price of $200 + GST will apply, with the deadline for entries closing on 15 September, 2023.

The much-anticipated Smart50 and category award winners will be announced during an event in Melbourne on the evening of November 16, 2023.
