Nominate now for the 2012 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards

Do you know a deserving entrepreneur? Nominations are now open for the 2012 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards.

Thought by many to be one of the world’s most prestigious business awards, and this year, entrepreneurs from over 140 cities in 50 countries will participate in the awards.

Nominations can be made until 23 March, by visiting the award program website. Nominees will be assessed by an independent panel of expert judges according to six key criteria: entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, personal integrity and influence, financial performance, strategic direction, and national and global impact.

The Australian winner will then go on to compete at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year awards in Monte Carlo, giving them an opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial talent on the world stage.

Previous Australian Entrepreneur Of The Year winners include the brains behind businesses such as Carsales.com, Atalassian, The Karma Royal Group, Res Med and last year’s overall winner, iiNet’s Michael Malone.

Past winners of the World Entrepreneur of the Year award include the founders of IKEA, Google and Amazon.

Oceania Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Leader Bryan Zekulich, believes it’s important to recognise the significant contribution entrepreneurs make to the business community.

“Entrepreneurs find opportunity in adversity and they play a vital role in boosting economies, both locally and globally, by creating jobs, promoting innovation, productivity and supporting communities,” he said.
