Advance Awards 2020 finalists announced

The finalists of the 2020 Advance Awards are being announced today, in the lead up to the ninth annual ceremony where the winners will be announced on October 15.

The finalists are exceptional global Australians who are leading the industries of Arts, Commercial Creatives, Education, Financial Services, Life Sciences, Social Impact, Sustainability. Science and Technology.

They include Dr Vandana Joshi, a Nutrition Manager at UNICEF South Sudan and Nukila Evanty, the Executive Director of The Women Working Group.

The awards aim to bring global Australians together each year to recognise and celebrate the work of the most remarkable Australians who are making an extraordinary impact on the international stage across industry sectors that are important to Australia.

They are run by Advance.org, a trusted platform that connect Australian expats with one another and with Australia. The organisation was created to unlock economic and cultural opportunities through collaboration, investment and innovation.

The Advance Patron is the Prime Minister of Australia, who in 2006 was the Hon. John Howard OM AC.

“Our greatest exports are not of course iron ore important though that is, or tourism important though that is, wheat, coal and all the other things that we export….our greatest exports are our people,” he said. “There are a million of you dotted around the world, saving lives, inventing things, being at the forefront of information technology.”

Maria Macnamara is the CEO of Advance.org, having joined the team in September 2019. She is looking forward the awards as a time to celebrate global Australians.

“We want to encourage greater collaboration between Australians who are at the forefront of their fields, but we also want to encourage investment, and we want to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation,” she said.

“We do this at the Advance Awards every year to inspire the next generation of leaders.”

This year the awards will be streamed online on October 15 from 6:30pm AEST.

Registrations are now open to purchase tickets here.
