Staff seeking further education in 2010

Staff education

An economic bounce-back and improved job market is driving competitive staff back to school in 2010 after a stagnate 2009, says Edinburgh Business School (EBS).

“In 2010, pressure will build for those looking to move from middle management to senior executive positions, to demonstrate not only their professional experience, but also their academic qualifications,” says the Australasia general manager of EBS, Malcolm Kinns.

“Some Australians used the economic downturn as an opportunity to further their studies with an MBA. However, for many Australians the global financial crisis had a significant impact on their financial outlook; hindering their ability to progress their studies and careers,” says Mr Kinns.

“The benchmark for senior executive qualifications is shifting. MBA enrolments at EBS increased by 325% in the last two years, and enquiries so far in 2010 indicate that a strengthening economy and job market are prompting more to consider hitting-the-books in 2010,” says Mr Kinns.

For some however, the affects of last year’s financial ‘crunch’ are still raw, putting the possibility of further study out of reach.

To help breakdown the financial barriers to post-graduate study, EBS have launched a new scholarship program.

The three scholarships, valued at $18,000 each, will allow successful applicants to complete an MBA through EBS and its online learning program.

Applications for the scholarship will close on 1 May 2010. Entry is open to Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Island citizens. For further details on how to apply visit www.ebsglobal.com.au
