Introducing the Tech23 Deeptech Festival 2020

Applications for the Tech23 Deeptech Festival are now open for young, high-growth tech companies.

Since 2009, the Tech23 has aimed to unlock new ways of working by joining the dots between enterprise and clever tech. Tech23 seeks to encourage the deeptech ecosystem to collaborate; learn and respond – leveraging a wealth of talents, contacts and knowledge.

“We need deeptech,” says Director of Tech23, Rachel Slattery. “We need the research, the organisations that create and nurture these companies, the founders who lead them, the money that invests in them, the community who believes in them – and oh so importantly, a government that understands and supports all of this.”

Tech23 Alumni companies who have grown internationally include Accelo, Culture Amp, Fleet Space, Kasada, Morse Micro, Myriota and Tiliter. Alumni solving challenges in health include Swoop Aero, Microba and Presien. Productivity stars include Airwallex, Canopus Networks and Quantum Brilliance. Fighting carbonisation are the likes of Redback Technologies, Power Ledger and BuildingIQ and sustainable agriculture stars include Agworld, Flurosat and AgriDigital. Companies working to improve our built environments include Baraja, Bluedot Innovation and uDrew

“The NSW Government believes deeptech is a key strength for NSW and Tech23 is a fantastic opportunity for some of the most innovative people in our society to showcase their incredible work,” said Minister for Jobs, Investment and Tourism Stuart Hayes.

“Innovation is so important and the NSW Government is keen to support people with great ideas; their ability to solve big problems will help grow our economy and create future jobs.”

The Tech23 Deeptech Festival 2020 will feature events taking place both online and face-to-face.

There will be opportunities to connect and collaborate ranging from ongoing Tech23 Impact Circles – virtual events exploring the big opportunities we have to create new industries, smarter solutions, and a better world; Tech23 MATTER Investor Briefings – for investors wanting to build up their deeptech portfolios; and the Tech23 Showcase 2020 – a hybrid one day event celebrating 23 deeptech gamechangers.

Young companies solving big problems with tech are encouraged to apply at tech23.com.au/2020/apply/.
