MYOB & PayPal launch free SMB eCommerce solution

MYOB and PayPal have announced a new eCommerce solution allowing small business to establish a free website and accept online payments within an hour.

MYOB’s Getting Aussie Business Online initiative has been enhanced by the new solution, which is free for the first year and gives small business the chance to launch an eCommerce enabled site at no cost.

MYOB CEO, Tim Reed says: “These enhancements to MYOB Atlas and the Getting Aussie Business Online initiative provide further incentives for small businesses to establish an online presence, open their brand to new markets and tap into global eCommerce growth.”

The MYOB Business Monitor Online Special Report highlights the number of Australian businesses with a website has increased to 39 percent, with a further 22 percent planning to establish an online presence over the next 12 months. The majority of Australian businesses however, still do not promote or sell products online.

According to PayPal Australia managing director Frerk-Malte Feller, online retail is experiencing phenomenal growth at 12 percent year-on-year and “more local retailers recognising the need to take advantage of the surge in online shopping to remain competitive in an evolving retail environment.”

The program allows users to customise their website with a logo or banner, add a newsfeed and link to social networking sites to increase their ability to sell products and services online. Websites will soon also be linked with MYOB’s future cloud-based business platform, giving businesses access to the benefits of their accounting software.

Owner of Orara Valley Beef Jerky, Hans Van Der Donk uses MYOB Atlas to help market his business. He says the website is easy to use and to set up.

“Not a problem, easier than other website builders that I’ve used in the past. You don’t have to be too experienced to get something up and running and you can make improvements as you go along.”
