Apple have announced its latest iPhones at a media event in San Francisco along with an updated version of the Apple TV and 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The new iPhones, the 6s and 6s Plus boast a new 3D Touch shortcut feature that allows users to make different commands by pressing harder and softer on the screen. A faster processor and an enhanced 12-megapixel camera have also been added to the new phones.

“The only thing that has changed with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is everything — 3D Touch lets users interact with iPhone in entirely new and fun ways, and the innovative Live Photos brings your pictures to life,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

Described at the event as the future of television by Apple Chief Executive, Tim Cook, the latest Apple TV runs a new operating system allowing apps to be designed specifically for big screens.

The iPad Pro includes a detachable keyboard and stylus, operating with “desktop-class performance” according to Mr Schiller.

The iPhones can be pre-ordered from Saturday, September 12 and will be available in Australia on September 25. The least expensive iPhone 6s will cost $1079 while the 6s Plus will start at $1229.
