Not-for-profit supporting businesswomen receives City of Sydney support

Non-profit organisation Springboard Enterprises (SB) Australia, formed to encourage female entrepreneurs, has received a backing of $30,000 from the City of Sydney to help fund a new program.

SB’s 2015 Accelerator Program has been developed to strengthen Sydney’s economy by providing female businesswomen with a ‘knowledge boot camp’, aiming to enhance their skills and to build awareness of business opportunities.

“Some of Australia’s most successful business people are women, but we are still woefully underrepresented in areas like emerging and high-growth businesses,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

“The SB Australia Accelerator Program enables women with potential to be great entrepreneurs to further develop their skills and chance of success.”

Ms Moore added that the program connects participants with networks, both national and international, needed to help fund developing businesses.

Springboard Enterprises was launched in 2000 and has since supported over 500 businesses led by women to grow through networking.

“Springboard Enterprises Australia is designed to prepare women-led companies for growth and connect them to high-value networks of investors and expertise in Australia and globally,” SB Australia chair Topaz Conway said.

“Our goal, working with our key supporters, is to provide an ecosystem that maximises opportunities for women to make high value contributions to Australia’s innovation and economic growth.”
