We have a compiled list of the 5 most valuable companies in the world at the moment, based on current stock market valuations.
Number one may come as a surprise, and maybe you didn’t realise Google has a parent company…. but the household names are definitely up there and probably won’t shock you.
Google parent company, Alphabet, which is fourth in the list, has surpassed the $US1 trillion mark in market capitalisation recently. It joins a select group of businesses to reach the trillion dollar figure – four in total – which online retailer Amazon has not quite reached.
1. Saudi Arabian Oil Company
Also known as Saudi Aramco, the Saudi Arabian Oil Company produces chemicals and energy for industry across the world.
The Saudi government owns the business, which has considerable shareholdings in energy businesses in other nations.
The business trades on the Tadawul stock exchange of Saudi Arabia.
