BlackBerry Bold’s Australian debut

Sleek and stylish, the BlackBerry Bold has made its way to Australian shores.

Building on the previous BlackBerry platform, the BlackBerry Bold also supports tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks and includes built-in GPS and Wi-Fi support. The fashionable smartphone comes with an LCD display, a new design full-QWERTY keyboard, and its black exterior is finished off with a satin chrome frame and leatherette backplate.

With desktop-style depiction, the BlackBerry Bold is ideal for downloading and editing Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. And for those entertainment junkies, alongside the 2-megapixel camera and media player for music, videos and pictures, you can also synchronise support for iTunes (though files with digital rights management technologies may not be supported). Plus, if you run out of room, you can always slot in a memory card and expand your storage.

Optus is the first of the carrier partners to announce pricing and availability. The BlackBerry Bold will be available on Optus’ 3G network from August 20, and will cost $10 per month, over 24 months, when you sign up to the BlackBerry $79 cap plan.
