Square supercharges Android transactions for merchants

Square has launched its latest payment offering, Tap to Pay on Android, in Australia.

This new technology enables sellers to accept contactless payments using their Android devices without any additional charges. With Tap to Pay on Android, Square aims to simplify in-person commerce for both new and established businesses.

Sellers can easily accept payments by opening one of the Square apps, such as Point of Sale, Appointments, For Restaurants, or Invoices, on their compatible Android device. After entering the sale details, they can present their smartphone to the customer, who will see the total amount payable and the contactless payments symbol on the seller’s device. Customers can then complete the payment using a contactless credit or debit card or a digital wallet like Google Pay.

This launch is expected to benefit businesses by providing them with a simple, cost-effective payment solution that meets the growing demand for contactless payments. Furthermore, the Tap to Pay on Android technology leverages Android devices’ ubiquity, eliminating the need for expensive hardware or additional software.

This innovative technology promises to be a game-changer in the payment landscape, as it eliminates the need for sellers to invest in expensive hardware or pay for additional software. Tap to Pay on Android leverages the capabilities of Android devices, which are now ubiquitous, to offer sellers a simple, affordable, and secure payment option that meets the needs of their customers.

Square has developed intuitive and elegant software to power its Tap to Pay on Android offering. This software provides sellers with a flexible and mobile payment solution that caters to the growing demand for contactless payments among consumers. By using Square’s software, sellers can offer consumers a smooth and hassle-free checkout experience that instils confidence and trust.

One of the significant benefits of Square’s software is its flexibility. Sellers can use it to process payments through a variety of Square apps, including Point of Sale, Appointments, For Restaurants, or Invoices. This flexibility allows sellers to choose the app that best suits their business needs, ensuring that they can offer their customers a payment solution that is tailored to their specific requirements.

Another advantage of Square’s software is that it is mobile. This means sellers can accept payments from anywhere, anytime, using their Android devices. This mobility allows sellers to expand their business and reach new customers, regardless of their location or operating hours.

“We have a strong mission whereby we want to help as many young people across Australia as possible, and the only way we can do that is through growth,” said Katy Walker, founder of The Clearing Room, a South Australia-based coaching and counselling practice. “We’re powering that growth by building out multiple parts of our business. Using Square for Tap to Pay on Android has made it so simple for me to build my at-home or at-school sessions helping parents or teachers to support young children more effectively.”

“Square’s goal is to make sure that our sellers, no matter where they are or who they are serving, never miss a sale,” said Alexis Sowa, General Manager of Square Point of Sale. “Our launch of Tap to Pay on Android brings unique technology to millions of sellers globally, giving merchants a simple way to accept payments and access world-class, integrated software for their business. Even though Tap to Pay technology has only been available for a short time, the breadth of applications and use  cases we’re seeing across our seller base already reinforce it’s staying power.”

Square sellers and new merchants can begin using Tap to Pay on Android today by downloading the Square Point of Sale, Square Appointments, Square for Restaurants, or Square Invoices app on compatible Android devices.
