Employer reputation key to recruitment

Employer reputation is a key factor in attracting talent with 96 per cent of job hunters admitting to reading reviews about a company before accepting a job opportunity.

The survey of more than 1000 Australian job hunters in 2019 found that three in four job hunters deemed it essential to research a company’s reputation before applying for a job.

The report, conducted by the world’s number one job site, Indeed, revealed there was a correlation between access to information and trust in an organisation.

Indeed’s employer insights strategist, Jay Munro, said reputation and trust had always gone hand-in-hand in business.

“Prospective employees are as discerning and thorough in their approach to a new company as customers would be,” he said.

“While reputation has always been important for any employer, in the digital age it is increasingly vital for small to medium-sized businesses to be visible as they compete with larger companies to attract the best talent.”

According to Indeed, it is becoming increasingly difficult for employers to hire talent as they compete for the same talent pool.

“The culture and expectations surrounding job search have changed forever. Small to medium-sized businesses should seize every opportunity they have to start sharing their stories online and build their employer brands.”

Indeed has recently launched its Company Pages Premium service to employers in Australia. The service allows employers to share their story as well as employee reviews and ratings on a range of criteria including, work/life balance, culture, management, job security and benefits to name but a few.
